Widely revered operatic tenor (1921–1959), dubbed the “Voice of the Century” by Toscanini, who enjoyed a successful if brief “crossover” career as a film star in such musical vehicles as The Great Caruso. Uncommon vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Peggy Johansen, A world champion girl—and a real friend—the best of everything always from Mario Lanza.” In good condition, with creases (crease through last portion of signature and part of inscription), allover vertical emulsion cracks (visible mainly from an angle), and a few scattered dings and impressions.
