Vintage matte-finish 6.5 x 8 photo of Ike in uniform affixed to a heavy 9.75 x 13.25 card, signed and inscribed in fountain pen on the mount, “To Ed. Hull—With admiration for his soldiering qualities, which have been employed so effectively in the successful prosecution of the war against the Axis; and with gratitude for his unwavering support. From his friend, Dwight D. Eisenhower.” John Edwin Hull (1895–1975) was the Army’s Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations during World War II. In 1953, he was appointed by Ike as Supreme Commander of United States and United Nations Forces in the Far East to succeed the retiring Mark Clark.
