British naval officer (1769–1839) who served as Nelson’s flag captain and who commanded the H.M.S. Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. Franking signature, “T. M. Hardy,” on a 4.5 x 3 mailing panel (the seal intact on a flap) addressed to Admiral Sir B. H. Carew, dated London, February 22, 1831, and bearing a “free” postmark. A touch of mild soiling and handling wear (small opening hole to flap), otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
