American clergyman and author (1822–1909) best known for the Civil War allegory “The Man Without a Country” Cabinet photo, 4.25 x 6.5, signed in ink on the reverse with a motto from his story “Ten Times One Is Ten”: “Look up and not town; Look forward and not back; Look out and not in; And lend a hand.
