Distinguished author (1811–1896) whose epochal 1852 novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin brought the issue of slavery to the fore of American consciousness and became one of the classics of 19th-century literature. ALS signed “H. B. Stowe,” one page, 5.5 x 6.25, August 24, 1887. Brief letter of thanks for a sent book. In full, “Please accept my thanks for your valuable book just received.
