American composer (1892–1972) best known for making the original arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody and Blue and for his own perennially popular concert staple, the Grand Canyon Suite. Two items: Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in ballpoint “To Bernard Baker, Sincerely, Ferde Grofé, 9/14/59; and a vintage ink signature and sentiment, “To Bernard Baker, Cordially, Ferde Grofé, 9/14/59,” on the reverse of his 3 x 1.75 calling card.
