Excellent vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of new mother Judy Garland with her young infant daughter, Liza Minnelli, signed in green ink “Love and kisses (and a few tears) to you all—Liza and Judy.” According to the consignor, the original recipient of the photo was Marti Stevens (née Martha Schenck), daughter of Nicholas Schenck, president of MGM from 1932 to 1956. Young Marti and Garland became acquainted at the studio, where Garland was under contract beginning in 1935. After changing her given name in order to establish her own identity, Stevens became a nightclub singer whose style was said to resemble that of the young Garland. A few small, faint, unobtrusive creases to bottom portion, and a tiny white spot to emulsion in background, otherwise fine, fresh, clean condition. Charming and unusual!
