“TRULY A DREAM COME TRUE”: Schoolteacher-turned-astronaut CHRISTA MCAULIFFE looks forward to the fateful mission that would end in tragedy

New Hampshire schoolteacher (1948–1986) who was the first teacher in space; she perished, along with all six other crew members, during the Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986. ALS signed “S. C. McAuliffe,” one page, 8.5 x 11, NASA letterhead, July 26, 1985. McAuliffe writes to Frank. In full: “Thank you for the congratulatory note. I’m excited not only about the space program but also about the prospect of meeting and inspiring other teachers & students. This is truly a dream come true….” A few subtle wrinkles and small creases, and horizontal mailing fold lightly touching signature, otherwise fine condition. Unusually poignant and quite uncommon in this format! R&R COA.
