Original printed page from the flight plan used and carried to the moon on the Apollo 11 mission, one page both sides, 10.5 x 8, signed in ballpoint, “Carried to the moon on Apollo XI, Buzz Aldrin.” Included with the lot is an undated TLS signed “Buzz Aldrin” explaining the purpose and provenance of the item. In part: “Enclosed with this letter is a sheet numbered 3-117 and 3-118 from the Apollo 11 Flight Plan…. It is part of the entire document that was carried to the moon in Command Module Columbia during the first lunar landing mission. This sheet is from the detailed time line section and covers hours 165 through 169 of the mission. Page 3-117 lists hours 6 and 7 of our second long sleep period after returning from the lunar surface and making the long engine burn to start the journey home to earth. We were sound asleep by this time in the sleep period. The pace of events prior to this sleep period had slowed just enough for us to reflect on the accomplishments of the past few days—making the first lunar landing, the first lunar surface excursion, lift-off from the Moon, the lunar orbit rendezvous, and the start of our return home. Page 3-118 lists hours 167 to 169 of the mission which were hours 8 and 9 of this sleep period. We did get some sound sleep during that time. Neil Armstrong got about 8.5 hours and Mike Collins got 7 hours. I was able to get a full 8 hours during this period. The flight plan was probably the single most important document related to the success of our mission. It provided a time schedule of crew activities and spacecraft maneuvers to accomplish the first lunar landing…. This page has been in my private collection since 1969….” A very mild marginal wrinkle or two, otherwise very fine, spotless condition.
