Promising American long-distance runner (1951–1975) who was killed in an auto accident at the age of 24. Complete issue of Life magazine for December 29, 1972, signed and inscribed in ballpoint near his photo on one page of a two-page spread on the 1972 Olympics, “To Bill, From Steve Prefontaine.” The magazine is good, with missing back cover and heavy wear and tape repairs to front cover; apart from some mild toning, the signed page is fine.
