Description

Three-time Pulitzer Prize–winning American dramatist (born 1928) best known for such modern classics as Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, A Delicate Balance, and Seascape. Five ALS in postcard format, signed “Edward Albee,” “Edward” (two), and “Edward & Jonathan” (two), all to arts patron Morris Golde in New York City, 1970s–1990s. Albee sends greetings and news from various foreign locales. A few excerpts: “We are now in St. Tropez, where the wind is howling…. Libya won’t let us in (visa problems) & the Egyptian hotels won’t confirm (because my travel agent is Jewish?) but we press on…. Thank you for your letter about Seascape…. Once more—off somewhere. Hope to be back in time for Ned’s [composer Ned Rorem’s] concerts…. You’ve had a great run out there [on Water Island], and so have your friends!…” In very good to fine condition, with scattered light postal and handling wear and one with water stain to lower portion, causing slight running to four lines of text and signature. R&R COA.
