American jazz saxophonist (1909–1973) generally regarded, along with Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young, as one of the three greatest “swing tenors.” Beginning in 1940, Webster served as the first major tenor soloist in Duke Ellington’s orchestra; after their fruitful collaboration ended in discord, Webster worked with a variety of other distinguished jazz artists and spent the last decade of his career living and playing in Copenhagen. Scarce vintage ballpoint signature, “Ben Webster,” on an off-white 3.75 x 2.25 album page. In very fine, clean condition. R&R COA.
