Union general and onetime commander of the Army of the Potomac (1824–1881); the distinctive whiskers he sported gave rise to the word “sideburns.” Partly printed DS, signed twice “A. E. Burnside,” one page, 10.5 x 7, August 20, 1870. An uncut sheet of two stock transfer certificates made out to different individuals, each signed by Burnside.
