American soldier and actor (1924–1971) whose heroism during World War II earned him the Medal of Honor. After the war, Murphy parlayed his popularity, small-town charm, and baby-faced good looks into a respectable film career, appearing in a string of (mostly) westerns and war dramas. He died in a plane crash at the age of 46. In-person ink signature and inscription, “To Ken - Best wishes - Audie Murphy,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card.
