Very early vintage glossy 8 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo of a young Presley in a jacket and tie, signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint, “Yours, Elvis Presley,” and also signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint by his first manager and guitarist, “Many thanks, Scotty Moore,” in pencil by his bass player, “Bill Black,” in blue ballpoint by Onie Wheeler (who toured with Presley in the early days), and in green ink by Presley’s second manager, “Bob Neal,” who was pretty much forced out by Colonel Parker. Neal was Presley’s second manager for about a year and a half starting in 1954. In February of 1955, Neal, Colonel Parker and Sam Phillips (of Sun Records) met in Memphis to discuss Elvis; with Parker angering Phillips by revealing that he is already approaching major labels about the singer. After endless scheming by Col. Parker and growing dissent over the path Elvis’s career should take, Bob Neal agreed to pull out of Presley’s contract, leaving Parker in full control of the singer’s career. In good condition, with several small areas of paper loss along bottom edge, a few other small edge tears, a couple noticeable creases, two tape remnants along top of image side, surface impressions to image, and a mild pattern of toning to reverse.
