Military officer (1847–1919) who was second in command of Company F during the Washita Campaign. Later promoted to 1st lieutenant, Gibson was second in command of Company H during the Yellowstone and Black Hills Expeditions, and served in the same capacity, under Benteen, at the Battle of Little Bighorn. One of the few survivors, Gibson campaigned against the Nez Perce in the following year and ended his years as a civil servant in New York City. Partly printed DS, signed “F. M.
