Description

At the Little Bighorn he famously rode to the sound of the firing with his company commander, Capt. Thomas Weir, as their battalion commander, Benteen, conferred with Reno after the latter’s route in the valley. Edgerly had joined the 7th Cavalry and Co. D at Fort Riley in 1870, and he served on both of the Yellowstone and Black Hills Expeditions, post-Little Bighorn he was with the 7th Cavalry at Wounded Knee. Check, 7.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Edgerly, payable to E. L. Anderson for $5.00, November 30, 1903. Matted with a portrait of Edgerly and a brass plaque, to an overall size of 12 x 19.5. In fine condition, with bisecting vertical fold and small tear to body, and cancellation holes lightly affecting just a few letters of bold signature. R&R COA.
