Original vintage sepia 4.25 x 6.5 Sarony half-length portrait cabinet photo of Sherman, in full dress uniform, with his arms defiantly folded across his chest, signed in the lower border in black ink, “W. T. Sherman, General, 1889,” and also signed and inscribed on the reverse, “To Mrs. Admiral Baldwin, with best compliments of W. T. Sherman, General, New York, Feb. 15, 1889.” In very good condition, with scattered light toning and foxing, several small holes to background and bottom border, lightly affecting initials, and some light surface loss and mounting remnants to reverse, lightly affecting paraph of signature.
