First reindeer, then railroads

American literary scholar (1779–1863) and author of “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” the 1823 poem better known by its opening line: “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Partly printed DS, one page, 8 x 13.5, June 23, 1847. An agreement wherein Moore agrees to sell a parcel of land in Mount Pleasant [New York] to the Hudson River Railroad Company, which plans to build a route through the property, for $600. A hint of mild handling wear, and light toning and small edge separations at folds, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
