Jazz Age novelist and short story writer. He is regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the twentieth century. Fitzgerald was the self-styled spokesman of the “Lost Generation,” Americans born in the 1890s who came of age during World War I. He finished four novels, left a fifth unfinished, and wrote dozens of short stories that treat themes of youth, despair, and age. ANS, one page, 7.25 x 5, no date. Brief note to a gentleman. Scott Fitzgerald.” In very good condition, with light thinning of paper on reverse from removal of mounting remnants, two vertical folds, one through small portion of first name, pencil notation to lower left, light irregular toning to right half of page (over, but not detracting from, the signature), and a small tear to top edge.
