CARIBBEAN CRUISE, EARLY AMERICAN STYLE: ADAMS signs a ship’s papers for a Haiti-bound vessel carrying “fish, bricks, lumber, beef”

Partly printed DS as president, one page, 19.25 x 15.5, October 20, 1797. A four-language ship’s papers issued to John Moulton, “master or commander of the Brig called Nancy of the burthen of 129 tons or thereabouts, lying at present in the port of Beverly bound for Petit Guave [Haiti] and laden with Fish, Bricks, Lumber, Beef.” Countersigned by Timothy Pickering as Secretary of State. In good to very good condition, with intersecting folds (touching the signature; small separations touching first name; separations elsewhere touching printed text), spots of tape staining to perimeter, faint offsetting of seals, and light toning from previous framing. The signature is large, bold, and otherwise unaffected, and the two original paper seals remain intact. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
