In part: “AP carried the story of Budenz’ pinning the Communist label on me at the IWO trial, so I suppose you got it out in California. I suppose a lot of Communists won’t like my stating that I am not a Communist; but the Communists have never shown any inclination to clear others of such charges on the many occasions when they could easily have done it. The fact that so many non-Communists have supported the Communists in the good work that they have done for democracy has been an asset to the Communist Party. One would suppose that they would go out of their way to preserve the non-Communist character of that support by giving such authoritative testimony as would preserve it….” In fine condition.
