The contract for Tracy’s role in the 1957 Tracy-Hepburn classic Desk Set, in which Tracy, as a techno-savvy efficiency expert, faces off against Hepburn, who plays a clever corporate research librarian determined to prove the superiority of humans over computers. The contract specifies that Tracy is to be paid $250,000, that the director is to be Walter Lang (or a substitute who has “heretofore directed pictures recognized in the motion picture industry as Class ‘A’ pictures”), and that only Tracy’s and Hepburn’s names may appear above the title. The contract is housed in its original stapled folder. Marginal staple holes to document and light creasing and handling wear to covers, otherwise fine, clean condition.
