Excellent ALS, one page slightly trimmed in size to 4.25 x 7, February 8, 1850. Dickens writes from his home in London to the Reverend John Hayes. In full: “I am much satisfied by your letter, and should be glad if it were in my power to return you a satisfactory reply. But the style of expression and manner of thought, of which you make such generous mention, come naturally to me, and are (as it were) a part of myself; and I have no idea of any means by which I could communicate them to another….” Light soiling, faint intersecting folds and the faintest suggestion of offsetting to bottom portion, otherwise fine, crisp, bright condition. Boldly penned, beautifully preserved, and most revealing! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
