Lincoln writes, in part, “And the plaintiff is notified that the defendant, will, on the trial, in explanation of what he did say of the plaintiff, offer to give in evidence a certain note maid by said plaintiff.” Office notation to top in another hand reads, “Filed May 18, 1855.” In fine condition, with some light edge toning from previous display.
