TLS, one page, 7.25 x 11, December 10, 1980. L’Amour writes to a collector. In part: “Do not send me books to be signed and returned. I just do not have the time…. Some years ago a famous writer was asked what he did in such cases and he opened a closet stacked floor to ceiling with books, all neatly wrapped. He said, ‘There they are!’ No working writer operates a mailing service…. I write three books per year with all the research that requires. I have much else to do, and a family, and no matter how much I might like to I cannot find time for signing and mailing books…. I am sorry not to be more receptive but this has become quite a problem. Thank you also for the kind words on my writing, I’ve some good books coming up.” A hint of mild toning at edges and light intersecting mailing folds (lightly touching last name), otherwise fine condition.
