Description

American cartoonist (1913–1973) best known as the creator of Pogo, whose offbeat humor and sly political commentary earned it a place among the most beloved strips of all time. Original hand-inked four panel Pogo daily comic strip on a 17.5 x 6 piece of artist’s cardstock, dated November 23, 1955. Strip shows Pogo and Tammananny Tiger returning to New Jersey on an inflatable sea horse, which gets left behind, much to the Tiger’s chagrin. Sea horse then goes on to scare a bug father and son out for a walk, ruining their faith. Signed in ink on the last panel by Kelly. Strip is affixed by tape to two corners of a slightly larger piece of foam core. In fine condition, with bisecting vertical fold and some scattered light soiling. R&R COA.
