Description

German inventor and early filmmaker. Along with his brother Max, he invented the Bioscop, an early movie projector the Skladanowsky brothers used to display the first moving picture show to a paying audience on November 1, 1895, some two months before the public debut of the Lumière Brothers’ technically superior Cinématographe. Vintage 3.75 x 5.5 postcard photo, signed and inscribed in pencil in German “To my old friend Walter Hahle, as a souvenir and remembrance, Emil Skladanowsky - Berlin 4.11.35.” In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light soiling.
