Two Oklahoma documents, individually-signed

American songwriting duo. They are most famous for creating a string of immensely popular Broadway musicals in the 1940s and 1950s, during what is considered the golden age of the medium. Five of their shows were outstanding successes: Oklahoma!; Carousel; South Pacific; The King and I; and The Sound of Music. Among the many accolades they garnered were thirty-four Tony Awards; fifteen Academy Awards; two Pulitzer Prizes; two Grammy Awards; and two Emmy Awards. Two items: DS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, no date. A Laboratory Pledgeholder Agreement, assigning all of Rodgers and Hammersteins rights, title and ownership to Oklahoma to the Bankers Trust Company. Signed on the second page in blue ballpoint by Richard Rodgers, signing as president of Rodgers and Hammerstein Pictures, Inc; and a DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, dated June 29, 1954, informing Loew’s Incorporated of the addition of a second name authorized to request facilities and equipment regarding the production of Oklahoma. Signed at the bottom in blue ink by Oscar Hammerstein. In fine condition, with usual holes. R&R COA.
