TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Supreme Court letterhead, November 23, 1921. Taft writes to Mrs. H. J. Castles in San Francisco. In full: “I have your letter of November 17th. You must rely on your Congressman, Mr. Julius Kahn, to help you out. It is improper for me, as Chief Justice, to go about the Departments seeking to interfere with their executive work. I have no doubt Mr. Kahn will be glad to assist you.” Intersecting mailing folds (away from signature), a few very faint marginal spots, and a touch of mild wrinkling, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
