ANS in pencil at the bottom of a letter sent to London, 8.25 x 10.5, the original letter dated June 3, 1905. London forwards a message from Clondesley Johns. Johns’s letter reads, in part: “I’ve believed a modern fleet in battle must be successful or practically destroyed; that the Russian fleet could not be successful. I thought more strays would reach Vladevostock [sic]—but for what use?…. Please forward to Ed Winship.” London adds, in full: “Dear Ed: I’m forwarding as requested. It seems I’m a mere ‘go-between’ these days.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in London’s hand.
