ALS in French, two pages in pencil, 5 x 8, Giverny par Vernon, Eure letterhead, June 14, 1921. Monet writes to his close friend, art critic Gustave Geffroy (1855–1926). In part (translated): “We leave tomorrow evening for Venice…. Nothing is certain but if I can see you it will be tomorrow at 7 a.m…. If we don’t meet, leave a note saying where you will be sleeping tomorrow.” In fine condition, with a hint of very subtle overall toning and faint show-through to blank top margins from pieces of mounting tape to reverse.
