Legendary American boxer (1875–1953) who was heavyweight champion of the world from 1899 to 1904. ANS, signed “Jas. J. Jeffries,” on the correspondence side of a 5.25 x 3.25 government postcard postmarked April 30, 1942. Jeffries rates, per the original collector’s notation, “the 3 best boxers seen to date by Mr. Jeffries”: “1. Corbett, James J.; 2. Ryan, Tommy; 3. Griffo, Young.” In very good condition, with toning to lower edge (touching descenders of signature), diagonal creases (touching text and first part of signature), collector’s notations as described above, and mounting tabs to corners.
