Truth is stranger than artistic license: “Some of these horses are in rather startling positions”

American artist (1861–1909) best known for his paintings and sculptures of the American West, and for his depictions of cowboy life in particular. ALS, one page, 5.75 x 7.25, October 9, 1891. Remington writes from New Rochelle to Ford B. Schell. In full: “I send Lieut. Clark’s M.S. on the German Cav. School with a page and a half of illustration. Some of these horses are in rather startling positions but they are simply facts—after photographs—as I have signed them. I will send the ‘Tio Juan’ stuff as soon as poss.” In very good to fine condition, with trimming to edges, intersecting mailing folds, and small tape repair to reverse.
