African-American expatriate singer and dancer (1906–1975), nicknamed “Black Venus,” who became one of the greatest sensations of Jazz-Age Paris. Vintage 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen in French and signed “votre Josephine 1936.” In very good condition, with silvering to darker areas of image, a few scattered surface marks, and slight mounting remnants on reverse.
