Outstanding vintage glossy 3.5 x 5.5 British postcard photo of Houdini with his hands in his pockets, signed in fountain pen, “Liverpool, 28-10-09, Harry Handcuff Houdini.” It was in the summer of 1909 that Houdini first tried his hand as a pilot, purchasing a Voisin plane during an engagement in Hamburg. In the following March, using the same plane, Houdini made the first heavier-than-air flight on the Australian continent. Moderate contrast to writing contrast against the dark background, and a very subtle and virtually invisible ripple to surface from mounting remnants to reverse, otherwise fresh, immaculate, very fine condition. A handsome image in a superb state of preservation! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
