Sousa cuts a check to his son

Bandleader and composer nicknamed The March King. A brilliant man who sought to reach a mass audience through his music, he formed his own band in 1892 and carefully selected the music to include in his band’s repertoire. Check, 8.5 x 3.25, filled out and signed by Sousa, payable to John Philip Sousa II for $175, December 15, 1925. In fine condition, with bisecting vertical fold, expected stamps and holes, lightly affecting pay line, and two pencil cancellation strokes, not affecting clean signature at bottom. R&R COA.
