Sheet music for “Over the Rainbow,” 9 x 12, six pages, nicely signed on the front cover in felt tip by Jack Haley, Margaret Hamilton, E. Y. Harburg, and Harold Arlen. This most beloved of movie themes, as the story goes, was nearly cut from the film when it was feared that it slowed the pace of the story. (In fact, an additional verse, sung by a weeping Dorothy while she was held captive in the Witch’s castle, was indeed left on the cutting room floor when Garland’s performance was deemed too heart-wrenching for young viewers.) The song, which of course remained a pervasive presence throughout the film, became Garland’s “signature” tune and was selected by the American Film Institute as the greatest move song ever written. In fine condition, with a light brush to Arlen’s signature and a bit of mild toning to cover. An uncommon and desirable Oz combination! R&R COA.
