Wingless: The famed flyer honors the Zeppelin

French engineer and aviator (1872–1936) who made the first crossing of a large body of water in a heavier-than-air craft when he flew across the English Channel in 1909. Commemorative airmail cover with a rubber-stamped cachet honoring the visit of Dr. Hugo Eckener to inspect the U.S. Navy Zeppelin at Akron on April 7, 1930, 6.5 x 3.5, signed and inscribed in fountain pen at upper left, “à Marx Rëimers, L.
