Died in 1967 in the Apollo spacecraft fire. He piloted the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft, the second and final suborbital Mercury test flight, on July 21, 1961. Personal check, 6.25 x 3, filled out and signed by Grissom, “Virgil I. Grissom,” payable to Sears & Roebuck Co. for $100.00, November 26, 1960. Grissom also adds an address and phone number to lower left corner. In fine condition, with cancellation holes to left side and light show-through from stamps on reverse.
