DS signed “G. Bernard Shaw,” one page, 8 x 10, February 9, 1921. Document, labeled “Private” regarding “The Author’s Fees for Professional Productions.” Shaw will receive either 15% or 10% depending upon gross receipts. At the end of the first paragraph Shaw writes “Subscribers seats must be accounted for as if purchased at the door.” On the reverse, Shaw writes a statement of permission stating, “I hereby license the Askrigg Shakespearean Players to perform Arms & The Man on Easter Monday next on the terms printed on the back hereof, and on condition that no performance of the play shall be recorded for reproduction by cinematography or otherwise.” Intersecting folds, several rusty paperclip marks to left edge of printed side, a touch of light edge toning and small tape remnant to top edge, otherwise fine condition. Arms and the Man play was first produced in 1894, and published in 1898 as part of Shaw’s Plays Pleasant volume, which also included Candida, You Never Can Tell, and The Man of Destiny.
