Description

THE UNION’S YOUNGEST GENERAL: Twenty-three-year-old Custer endorses a letter just months after his promotion

War-date endorsement signature, “G. A. Custer, Brig. Genl., Comdg. 2nd Brig.,” on a lightly lined slip clipped from a letter or document dated October 27, 1863. The reverse bears the endorsement signature “Geo. G. Meade.” Attractively matted and framed (so both sides are visible) with a photo and engraved plaque to an overall size of 19 x 16.5. In fine condition, with a few stray ink blots; both signatures are clean, dark, and unaffected. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
