ALS signed “A. Conan Doyle,” one page on the correspondence side of a 3.5 x 4.5 postcard with an image of the scenery at Hindhead, his home south of London, no date [postmark indistinct; possibly 1920]. Doyle writes to F. J. Lawson, Esq. at the University College Hospital in London. In full: “I am sorry but I can’t manage it.” Please note that the unusual proportions are original to the “stubby” format that never attained the popularity of standard-sized postcards; the item has not been trimmed in any way. In fine condition, with a few subtle bends and a touch of mild soiling. R&R COA.
