Description

To a pioneering glider pilot: “My wife and I remember well watching sailplanes ... in Grindenwald”

TLS signed “Neil,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, July 23, 1985. Armstrong writes to Peter Riedel (1905–1998) the renowned German gliding champion and Air Attaché for the Nazi government. In part: “I was very excited by your letter. My wife and I remember well watching sailplanes from our hotel balcony in Grindelwald. We did a good bit of hiking in the area on the same vacation. Unfortunately, I cannot join you. I have already committed to several events in that time period and cannot cancel them.” One mailing fold touching signature and a small tape remnant to top edge, otherwise fine condition. COA Scott Cornish and R&R COA.
