Superlative vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 photo of a younger, smartly dressed Disney on a camera crane with spotlights and soundstage wall visible in the background, boldly and beautifully signed at the top in fountain pen, “Walt Disney.” The photo probably dates from the late 1930s or early 1940s, the period when Disney moved into newer, larger quarters on the heels of his resounding success with Snow White. The pioneering animated classic would earn over eight million dollars in its original theatrical release, all the more amazing because children were charged only a dime to see it. The new Burbank “campus” of the Walt Disney Studios opened for business on December 24, 1939. In fine condition, with small corner bend, very subtle toning, a few scattered light surface impressions and dings, and recent cellophane tape to edges that touches the blank margins only and appears to be “peelable.” The caliber of signed photo that the advanced Disney collector’s wildest dreams are made of!
