Grandpappy Blood and Guts

Confederate brigadier general (1833–1864) who was killed at the Battle of Opequon. He was the grandfather of the famed World War II general of the same name. Two items: ALS, signed “G. S. Patton,” one lightly lined page, 4.75 x 7.75, January 30, 1860, requesting that his cousin, Andrew, inquire about steamship fares; and a lengthy ALS from Patton’s wife to him, signed “S[usan] G[lassell] P.,” one lightly lined page both sides (one side cross-written), 7.75 x 9.75, Febrary 19, 1863, sending news of family and an upcoming move, and mentioning the family Bible. Accompanied by the original mailing envelopes. In fine condition, with a touch of mild soiling and a few small edge separations and pinholes to Susan’s letter.
