Description

Checking in with the home front: “I miss letters from you when they do not come”

FBI agent and archetypical “G-Man” (1903–1960) responsible for the capture of John Dillinger, “Pretty Boy” Floyd, “Baby Face” Nelson, and other notorious baddies. ALS signed “Melvin,” “Melvin Purvis,” and “Lt. Col. Melvin Purvis,” one lightly lined page, 8 x 10.5, April 13, 1944. Purvis, then a lieutenant colonel in the army, writes to his wife, Rosanne, on correspondence he has received and news from other family members. A few tiny spots, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
