Description

The National League’s greatest pitcher plays for the House of David

Alexander overcame epilepsy, alcoholism and harrowing combat during World War I to become one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. He won 30 games each season from 1915 to 1917 and led the league in ERA five times. No other National League pitcher has surpassed his marks of 373 victories and 90 shutouts. Vintage glossy 9.25 x 7 photo of Alexander in his House of David uniform posing with three players from the Sun Oil team, signed vertically in fountain pen. In good condition, with several tears and areas of paper loss to edges, clipped two top corner tips and scattered noticeable heavy creases and surface marks. Alexander played for the House of David from 1931 until 1938. The House of David operated a famous barnstorming baseball team, which toured small town America from the 1920s to the 1950s playing major and minor teams and exhibition games. LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
