Description

Associate Justice of the Supreme Court (born 1762) from 1799 until his death in 1829. The nephew of George Washington, he was the heir and executor of Washington’s estate, and aided Chief Justice John Marshall in the preparation of Marshall’s biography of Washington. Manuscript check, 6.5 x 2.5, filled out and signed “Bush. Washington,” payable to Union Bank of Georgetown for $54.00, November 5, 1813. In fine condition, with a touch of mild soiling and light show-through from notations on reverse. R&R COA.
