Writing to the aged British military hero who bested Napoleon at Waterloo

Third-person ALS signed in the text “the Queen,” one page both sides, 4.5 x 6.75, gilt-embossed and illustrated Osborne House letterhead, August 26, 1851. Victoria writes to the Duke of Wellington, then eighty-three years of age. In full: “The Queen has recd. Field Marshal the Duke of Wellington’s letter informing her of his intention to leave London for Walmer Castle. We hope that the Duke will enjoy perfect health during the summer….” Walmer Castle was one of Wellington’s residences, where he spent two months each autumn from 1829–52. In good condition, with soiling, wrinkling, and near-complete separations at one folds (partially repaired). R&R COA.
